Registry
Cleanup
Click
on any underlined word to see its meaning. Words
with ** before and after, are downloadable links.
The Problem
The
registry acts a bit like a phonebook.
It
keeps the location and details of all the programs on your computer, but
sometimes when you delete or update software, it will leave behind useless bits
of information. After a while the registry becomes one big untidy mess and over
time this process can dramatically slow down all aspects of your computer.
The Solution
The good news is that you don’t have to do the
cleanup manually. There are applications available which will do this for you.
You could
download a good freeware program called RegSeeker
The Method
**Click HERE to download RegSeeker** and save it to your desktop. (You
will need to
extract the file after
downloading.)
Double Left click
the file RegSeeker.exe,
on your desktop. You should
be able to see a screen similar to the one below.

Click on the Clean the Registry button on the left hand side Menu. You should
now be able to see the screen below.

Make sure Backup
before deletion is Checked on the left hand bottom of the screen (as
pictured above). Now Click OK
The registry scan will now start. After it’s
finished, you should be able to see a screen similar to the one below. This
will show you all the registry entries on your computer which are not needed or
no longer valid. Click the Select All
button at the bottom of the screen and then
Right Click in the main window and Select Delete Selected Items.
This will now clean up all the unwanted entries
in the registry of your computer.
Please note: If for any reason you need to
revert back to your previous entries (at any time in the future) you can click
on the Backups
icon located on the
left hand side of the screen and follow the directions for restoring the
previous registry settings.
