Free Ticket to
the Super Bowl

A guy named Brent received a free ticket to the SuperBowl from his company but when Brent arrived at the stadium, his seat was in the last row in the corner of the stadium, closer to the Goodyear Blimp than the field.

About halfway through the first quarter, Brent spies (through his binoculars) an empty seat 10 rows off the field, right on the 50 yard line. He takes a chance and makes his way through the stadium and around the security guards to the empty seat.

As he sits down, Brent asks the gentleman sitting next to him, "Excuse me, is anyone sitting here?"

The man says "No."

Now, very excited to be in such a great seat for the game, Brent again inquires of the man next to him, "This is incredible! Who in their right mind would have a seat like this at the SuperBowl and not use it?!"

The man replies, "Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. I was supposed to come with my wife, but she passed away. This is the first SuperBowl we haven't attended together since we got married in 1968."

"Well, that's really sad," says Brent, "But still, you couldn't find anyone to take the seat; a friend or close relative?"

"No," the man replies, "They're all at the funeral."

Kurt
Warner

MVP in the
Game of Life

Warner met Brenda seven years ago, when a teammate at the University of Northern Iowa persuaded him to go to a country-music club in Cedar Falls. There, he spied a woman named Brenda Meoni, whose mother had a tough time getting her to go out as well. The two had an instant connection.

Brenda, who was divorced and raising a baby girl and a three year old boy, wasn't sure if it would last. To make the situation more complicated, her son Zachary was blind, the victim of a home accident; his biological father had dropped him on thewarner_family.jpg (16708 bytes) bathroom floor when he was an infant. 'I've dated men before whom I've never heard from again after they learned of the children', Brenda said. 'Kurt showed up the next morning and wanted to meet them. He fell in love with them before he fell in love with me.'

At the time, Brenda was on food stamps, and Kurt was in college. This would never work ... only it did work. kurt_brenda100.jpg (7532 bytes)Kurt courted Brenda for five years, through all of his professional struggles.  The couple wed in 1997 and added a third child, Kade, in 1998.

They've had plenty of trials and tribulations -- Brenda's parents were killed in an Arkansas tornado. Kurt bounced from the Arena Football League to NFL Europe before finally landing with the Rams, but their love and faith prevailed.
